Happy Fathers' Day

Happy Fathers’ Day

If you’re a dad and a sports fan, it doesn’t get any better than this. Thanks to the USGA, you always get the final round of the U.S. Open on the only day when you’re allowed to watch golf uninterrupted, but this year — if you live on the East Coast — you get The Tiger Show in prime time. That means there’s time to play golf during the day, watch the U.S. Open in the evening, and catch the Celtics-Lakers game as a nightcap. So if you’re a dad, enjoy, and if you’re not, make sure you’re near your dad, because you might never get a Fathers’ Day like this again.
Fathers are a constant theme in golf because most of us learned the game from our fathers. In the June issue of Golf Magazine, we asked some prominent golfers and their sons and daughters to talk about their relationships. The comments are funny, loving and, in some cases, a little weird. Like Billy Casper’s comment about his son:
"One thing he never understood about me is that I really like to eat a lot of unusual fruit, particularly when I’m flying Asian airlines."
We’d love to hear about your dad. Tell us the most important lesson he taught you below.
