mSeries ONEcs
Category: Blade Putters
Price: $295

WE TESTED: 34”, 35” shaft length
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The face-balanced, center-shafted (“CS”) putter is milled from carbon steel. The RifleScope Technology (RST) alignment system offers a true reference point for perfect setup and alignment on every putt.

OUR TESTERS SAY: Those who have challenges getting their alignment right will benefit most. It’ll improve your accuracy on long putts.

DISTANCE CONTROL: Good forgiveness on heel or toe hits due to heavier, stable head and center-shaft design; testers get consistent distances and speeds.
FEEL: Heavyish head with center shaft seems to swing through the ball by itself; minimizes twisting and excess vibration on misses; able to tell the type of putt you hit; not overly hot or soft.
LOOK: Sleek, black, understated, classy head; red and white alignment aid sets the putter apart because it’s so easy to align; alignment system is like a preflight checklist at setup.

Strokes that forward press don’t work as well with dot-and-line system; some testers aren’t fans of center-shaft look; a few guys get caught up in the alignment system and lose the flow of the stroke.

m5x CS
Category: High-MOI Mallet Putters
Price: $325

WE TESTED: 34”, 35” shaft length
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The 100% milled, carbon steel head features a soft aluminum insert. Its patented RifleScope Technology (RST) alignment system—the shaft covers up the red dot between two parallel white lines—indicates that the face is square to the target line to make a consistent and reliable stroke.

OUR TESTERS SAY: Scores well in terms of look, feel, and distance control. The foolproof, red-dot alignment system allows you to set up with confidence.

DISTANCE CONTROL: Putts hug the turf and roll smoothly off the face, providing accuracy on short and mid-range putts.
FEEL: Smooth as butter on most
center hits; head weight is a bit on the heavy side, which encourages a shorter, more controlled stroke and helps to alleviate twisting.
LOOK: Center-shafted mallet is chockfull of alignment aids to get the face square and the loft correct at address; overall design, and red dot, is subtle.

It’s easy to get caught up with the red dot/white lines alignment device and forget to focus on speed and distance; the alignment tool doesn’t work as well for golfers who like to forward press.
