Loft-and-lie adjustability is commonplace in Callaway drivers but hasn’t been a feature available in the company’s hybrids. Until now. The new Big Bertha hybrids have an OptiFit hosel that provides eight combinations of loft (-1°, standard, +1°, +2°) and lie angle (draw or neutral). Having the adjustability component gives you the freedom to find the proper lofts (and carry distances) so you avoid big yardage gaps between clubs.
This hybrid is hot, too. It has a lively 455 Carpenter steel “face cup” design to produce more flex across a wider area for faster ball speeds on mis-hits. Close behind the face, a horizontal, wave-like strip of mass stretches heel-to-toe. This weighting structure brings the center of gravity low and forward to further boost ball speed.
The hybrids come with 60-gram UST Recoil graphite shafts. Lofts: 19°, 22°, 25°, 28°, 31°. Available October 17. $249, graphite.
