SHANGHAI, China(AP) Austria’s Markus Brier won the China Open on Sunday, closing with a 4-under 67 for a five-stroke victory.
Brier birdied the 18th, his fifth birdie of the day at the Shanghai Silport Golf Club course, to finish at 10-under 274.
Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell (69), South Africa’s Andrew McLardy (70) and Australia’s Scott Hend (71) tied for second.
“I’m going in the right direction,” said Brier, also the winner of last year’s BA-CA Golf Open in Vienna. “I just got that same feeling.”
He earned $333,390 in the event sanctioned by the European and Asian tours.
Sweden’s Steven Jeppsen shot a course-record 63 to tie for eighth at 1 over.
