KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Americans Stacy Lewis and Brittany Lang shared the lead Friday after the second round of LPGA event in Malaysia.
Lewis shot a 6-under 65 and Lang finished with a 67 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Lewis dropped two strokes at the par-4 ninth, but made eight birdies for a 9-under 133 total.
“I struggled last week and so it’s nice to just get out there and shoot some good scores,” Lewis said. “And seeing putts going in is always a good thing.”
Na Yeon Choi of South Korea and Dewi Claire Schreefel of the Netherlands each shot 68s to tie for third, a stroke behind the leaders.
Azahara Munoz of Spain was 7 under with a 68, while top-ranked Yani Tseng of Taiwan (67), Michelle Wie (68) of the United States and Kim In-Kyung (68) of South Korea were a stroke back.
Suzann Pettersen had a 69 to trail the leaders by four shots, while Paula Creamer (67) was another stroke back.
Play was suspended for 3 hours during the day because of a heavy thunderstorm, but all golfers finished their rounds.
Tseng had six birdies, but she dropped shots at the fifth and ninth holes to finish with a 67.
“I feel really happy that I can go home and have a massage, instead of waiting here for a long time,” said Tseng, a five-time major winner said. “And that was a good birdie on 18 to give me 4 under today.”
