WATCH: Another epic hole out pushes Eddie Pepperell to wire-to-wire British Masters victory

October 14, 2018

England’s very own Eddie Pepperell has triumphed at the British Masters, holding on for a two-stroke win at Walton Heath Golf Club.

Pepperell led wire-to-wire in the event, but it wasn’t a cruising victory for him. In fact, he needed every bit of two magical shots during his win. The first came in the first round, where Pepperell’s approach into the par-3 ninth somehow hit the pin before kicking forward into the cup.

Pepperell’s improbable shots weren’t finished. Sunday, during the final round, he added another hole out, this time from 122 yards on the par-4 10th.

Not exactly the grandest reaction from Pepperell, but it kept him clear of the field. He needed it too, as Pepperell played the final eight holes in two over to stay ahead of Alexander Bjork.

Pepperell spoke earlier this week about how his new irons shafts have helped him dial in his ball-striking. He is the first Englishman to win the British Masters since Matthew Fitzpatrick did so in 2015.
