Tiger Woods, noted Oakland Raiders fan, is picking the Seattle Seahawks to win the Super Bowl over the New England Patriots on Sunday.
“Unfortunately it’s not the Raiders, but I’ll take Seattle 24-17 over the Patriots. #MySuperBowlPick,” Woods posted on Facebook.
While Woods might not have a team in the Super Bowl, he does have a rooting interest: fellow Stanford athlete Richard Sherman is the Seahawks’ star cornerback.
Meanwhile, football-obsessed Phil Mickelson is taking the other side.
“I like the Patriots,” he told the fans during the first round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Mickelson has a decent track record as a football prognosticator. Last year, Mickelson successfully predicted the Seahawks would beat the Denver Broncos, and he was famously part of a consortium that won $560,000 on a preseason bet that the Baltimore Ravens would win the 2001 Super Bowl.
Woods and Mickleson will have plenty of time to enjoy the game; they both missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open this week.
