Sergio Garcia let his displeasure be known following his opening round 76, calling the course's thick rough "dangerous" and blaming the tall grass for a shoulder injury he sustained in Wednesday's pro-am and reaggravated on Thursday.

The first shots have been fired at the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Justin Rose may have been the European to take the first shot of the event, but it was Sergio Garcia taking the first shot at American fans, after dropping a 20-foot putt on the 4th hole.

Garcia’s ball dropped into the cup and the 36-year-old Spaniard looked to the American fans and jokingly mouthed, “Did it go in?” He needed the putt, too, to halve the hole against the American team of Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson.
