Jack Nicklaus is a Jordan Spieth fan.
In a recent interview with longtime Notre Dame football coach and avid golfer Lou Holtz on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, the 18-time major winner said Spieth “is a special young kid.”
Nicklaus said Spieth has been on the Golden Bear’s radar since he was 16.
“I started watching him play and his action is so simple,” Nicklaus said. “He doesn’t do anything special; he doesn’t look like anything real special. He just looks very simple — very sound. He takes it back and through on one plane. He’s got good balance. He obviously thinks very well; he manages himself around the golf course way better than almost any kid his age.”
Spieth is facing off against Rory McIlroy at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship this week. The Texan is scheduled to be back in the United States for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Feb. 11-14.
