It’s another classic case of Phil being Phil.
In the final round of the British Open on Monday, Phil Mickelson made a run and was 10-under after 16 (6-under for the day) and only two off the lead. But then came the Road Hole, which has been tormenting players all week.
Mickelson’s drive on the long par-4 went way right and landed on the balcony of one of the rooms at the Old Course Hotel. A similar poor tee shot slowed Phil during round 3, when his tee shot went into the burn on the par-4 first hole.
Mickelson went on to make triple-bogey on 17, then parred 18 to finish 7-under for the tournament.
