New Titleist TS4 driver features smaller head and ultra-low spin

The new Titleist TS4 driver has a 430cc head.

The impressive TS2 and TS3 drivers now have an ultra-low spin sibling that, not surprisingly, is called TS4 ($499). According to Josh Talge, Vice President of Marketing for Titleist Golf Clubs, the new Titleist TS4 driver, which features a smaller 430cc pear shaped clubhead, can cut spin by 300-400 rpm over the other TS models, making it a good fitting option not only for some high-speed swingers but also a variety of players, even some with moderate spin rates, who simply need lower spin rates to achieve optimum performance.

To key to the spin-killing TS4 design is a low and forward CG location (5mm more forward than TS2), which is accomplished in large part with a SureFit Flatweight that’s positioned more forward in the sole of the club.

Other features include an ultra-thin titanium crown for added weight savings, a more compact aerodynamic shape, and a refined Radial VFT (variable face thickness) clubface design that reduces weight and increases ball speed and distance.

The TS4 also comes with Titleist’s SureFit hosel that allows for 16 independent loft and lie settings. Stock shaft offerings include Even Flow T1100 White 65, HZRDUS Smoke Black 60, and KURO KAGE Black Dual Core 50. Numerous custom shaft options are also offered.

The Titleist TS4 driver will be available at retail in late June and will come in 8.5, 9.5, and 10.5 lofts.
