Utah Golfer Stabbed, Hospitalized in Dispute Over Slow Play

August 22, 2016

A Utah golfer took the fight against slow play to a whole new level this week.

According to KUTV in Salt Lake City, 61-year-old Lee Johnson was playing a round with his wife on Saturday when the pair caught up to the foursome ahead of them. Johnson wanted to play through, but the group ahead wasn’t having it.

A fight broke out, clubhouse attendants were called and cooler heads prevailed … until later. Johnson and his wife were again waiting on the group again just a few holes later and were again denied the courtesy of playing through. This time, the golf got ugly.

Johnson took out a knife and stabbed a member of the group before being tackled by another. The man was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for non life-threatening injuries.

Instead of heading to the 19th hole, Johnson landed a spot in county jail.
