Titleist 913F Fairway Woods
Category: Game-Improvement Fairway Woods
WE TESTED: 15° (+1.5°/-.75°), 17° (+1.5°/-.75°), 19° (+1.5°/ -.75°) with Titleist Bassara W 55 shaft; 15°, 17°, 19° with Mitsubishi Diamana S+ Blue 72 shaft; 15°, 17°, 19° with Diamana D+ White 82 shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The 913F generates, on average, 1 mph faster ball speed, 250 rpm less spin, and up to 6 yards more distance than the 910F. Extremely accurate off the deck or tee; shots fly straight at the target and don't veer far off-line on poor contact.
PLAYABILITY: Top-shelf performance; like throwing darts — medium-high, accurate, penetrating ball flight that's easy to draw or fade; higher-lofted woods can be set down gently if needed.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: Extremely accurate off the deck or tee; shots fly straight at the target and don't veer far off-line on poor contact.
DISTANCE: So consistent you can throw a blanket over most shots; some testers hit it 5 to 10 yards longer than their own.
FEEL: Classic Titleist feel that's a bit on the softer side yet very springy and solid on center hits; subtle feel to the hands allows you to recognize a great shot immediately.
LOOK: Nothing fancy — typical Titleist teardrop shape with elegant black finish; compact heads look ready to attack.
Less-skilled players may want a bit more forgiveness than these smallish heads provide; a few testers find them mildly challenging to hit well from uneven lies.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the top models tested. The 913F gets high marks all around — very pleasing feel, look, and playability. Its compact head allows players to "golf" their shots, too.
