Ping Cadence TR Anser 2 Putter

Category: Blade Putters
Price: $170
34″, 35” shaft lengths
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: There’s a 25-gram difference between the standard (blue insert) and heavy (black) versions.

DISTANCE CONTROL: Consistent across the face—the graduated grooves seem to set up a large sweet spot; immediately imparts a forward roll to the ball, which helps with delicate and fast putts; for most testers, an intuitive sense of how much effort to apply, which builds confidence.
FEEL: Heavier black model is firmer, and the added weight helps the head release more easily; soft insert seems to hold the ball for a millisecond; both head weights feel stable, with minimal difference between center and off-center hits; great balance and forgiveness—it makes the stroke seem better than it is.
LOOK: Classic Anser head with matte black finish and a single white alignment line; attractive blue face insert on the lighter-weight model helps focus the eyes on the sweet spot; the slim blade is easy to line up.

Not for players looking for lots of visible technology; for some testers, this one doesn’t really let them know about their misses as much as they like; choosing the wrong version—standard or heavier weight—can have an ill effect on your stroke.

BOTTOM LINE: The Cadence TR Anser 2 is one of the top-rated blade putters. This classic-looking club will appeal to golfers of all abilities and putting styles, provided they pick the weighting that fits their game.
