Mizuno MP-T4 Wedges
WE TESTED: 50°/6°, 52°/7°, 54°/9°, 56°/10°, 56°/13°, 58°/10°, 60°/5°, 60°/8° with True Temper DG Spinner steel shaft
KEY TECHNOLOGIES: The grooves' width and depth vary by loft to optimize spin for each club.
PLAYABILITY: Blunt, rounded sole grind prevents digging and promotes clean, consistent contact; delivers a good thump in the sand; the Spinner shaft makes it easy to control trajectory and delivers plenty of zip.
DISTANCE CONTROL: A great touch club — very consistent across the whole range of shots; plenty of stopping power — it seems to generate more spin than many other wedges.
FEEL: The category leader — velvety and responsive; the ball sticks to the face at impact; good balance so testers can feel the club but its weight doesn't overwhelm them.
LOOK: Traditional, straightforward teardrop head with thickish topline isn't glitzy.
Head is a little light for some testers; a few struggle on flop shots, as the rounded sole doesn't lay open as readily as they'd expect.
BOTTOM LINE: One of the top wedges tested. A natural extension of Mizuno's trademark irons, with classic looks, best-in-class feel and strong performance.
