CASCAIS, Portugal (AP) — Defending champion Pablo Martin and France’s Gregory Bourdy shot a course-record 8-under 63s on Thursday to share the first-round lead in the Estoril Open of Portugal.

The 21-year-old Martin, from Spain, capped his bogey-free round at Oitavos Dunes with a 7-iron from 183 yards to inches for a birdie on the 18th. Last year, the former Oklahoma State star became the first amateur winner in European tour history.

Bourdy also had a bogey-free round.

Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Jose Manuel Lara and Sweden’s Michael Jonzon were a stroke back after 64s.
