FROM EUROPE
Luke Donald -- 2004, 2006, 2010 Ryder Cup team member: "There are three guys who are probably even favorites right now: Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley. I guess [Miguel Angel] Jimenez has a chance as well. I played my first-ever match with Paul in 2004 [at Oakland Hills in Michigan] and enjoyed his demeanor. It was nerve-racking, but he really had me relaxed. He said, "Play your own game, you'll be fine." Everything he said seemed to make sense, and it got me in a good rhythm after the first hole. We played Chris Riley and Stewart Cink, and we tied our match. I think all those candidates would be good choices. I've talked to Paul probably the most out of all those guys, and I think he would make a great captain."

FROM THE U.S.A.
Hunter Mahan -- 2008 & 2010 Ryder Cup team member: "David Toms makes sense but I feel like it's too soon for the guy. I feel like he still has so much golf left. But I think that's the best pick. You have to think of who's won a major and who's old enough. I think Freddie [Couples] deserves a shot but I don't think he'll get one, so that's kind of sad. David is a super-smart guy. It's very difficult being a Ryder Cup captain. You get killed if you lose, whether you did enough or not enough. David's got a good sense of everybody and how they play, so there would be no issue of not being connected to the Tour. And he's tough -- a very competitive guy -- which would make him a great captain for overseas. It would be easy to feed off that kind of mentality.
