Jimmie Johnson is a popular playing partner at the Quail Hollow Championship pro-am in Charlotte each year. "It's hard to say who's more excited, me to see them or them to see me," Johnson says of the car-crazy guys on the PGA Tour. NASCAR drivers and Tour players have a lot in common: the constant travel, competing as individuals, and leggy blonde wives, not to mention all the sponsors' logos.

\nGolf is a refuge for Johnson. "It's a chance to get some relief and spend some time with friends," Johnson says. "Monday's my off-day, so that's when I play. I can usually get my friends to play hooky from work."

Johnson says he enjoys walking a course, but NASCAR's driver of the decade is comfortable in a cart as well of course, just don't give him a restricted-speed one.

"Governors suck, that's for sure," he says.

2009 AP Athlete of the Year Jimmie Johnson, 35, is the only driver to win four straight Sprint Cup Series Championships.
