As if there were any doubt, the U.S. Ryder Cup team’s biggest fan is back on the course supporting his fellow Yanks. Michael Jordan is back, this time with a mean-mugging cigar.
The basketball behemoth was seen chatting with captain Tom Watson, and lending some support to Rickie Fowler in the form of a big ol’ bear hug.
Aw look at Fowler, he looks a little star struck!
Ian Poulter might be looking over his shoulder for Jordan, much like he did in 2012 at Medinah.
“I remember walking off the tee box at 13, looking over and he kind of wagged his — I don’t know if you can call it a finger, it looked like an arm — this big finger comes up and he was wagging it at me, pulling a face as if to say, ‘We’ve got you,'” Poulter told a SiriusXM radio show two years ago. “I’m a little golfer, Ian Poulter, playing golf in the Ryder Cup, and there’s legend basketball player Michael Jordan psyching me out in the Ryder Cup.”
Whether Jordan's intimidations and inspirations actually work remains to be seen (they didn't in 2012), but one thing that will likely be seen for many Ryder Cups to come will be #23.
