Who's Your Neighbor?

Ernie Els recently said he'll using his home at Lake Nona as him global home base.

Isleworth Country Club
Windermere, Fla.
Tiger Woods and his wife, Elin, are the resident royal couple at Florida's most famous community. Like its crosstown rival Lake Nona, Isleworth opened in 1987, but at 63,000 square feet, its clubhouse reigns obscene. Try the Appleby Burger or O'Meara Wrap, named for resident pros Stuart and Mark.

Who's Who Tiger Woods, Ken Griffey Jr., Robert Allenby, John Cook, Scott Hoch, Charles Howell III and Lee Janzen.

How to Get In Pretend you're not awed by Tiger or Shaq. Or find a cure for male-pattern baldness for chrome-domed members Hoch and O'Meara.

What it Costs The initiation fee is $100,000 to join the club, no home required. Annual dues are $24,000.

Lake Nona Golf & Country Club
Orlando, Fla.
Many famous foreigners roam Orlando's other top community, which has become a home away from home for Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia. Hoops hero Dr. J, Julius Erving, is also a member.

Who's Who Els, Garcia, Nick Faldo, Retief Goosen, Ian Poulter and Annika Sorenstam.

How to Get In Talk with a funny accent. And don't laugh at the relatively cheap — hey, we said relatively — initiation fee.

What it Costs Getting in costs $65,000 plus tax, although the amount is under review. No lot required for non-resident members. Annual dues are $11,500 plus tax.

Whisper Rock Golf Club
North Scottsdale, Ariz.
Phil Mickelson designed one of Whisper Rock's two courses and used to call it home before moving to Southern California. You'll still see a sea of familiar faces from the PGA Tour here, but don't expect to win the club championship. CBS announcer Gary McCord owns the seniors division.

Who's Who McCord, Miller Barber, Aaron Baddeley, Ricky Barnes and Peter Kostis.

How to Get In Hide your Vijay Singh Fan Club membership card here in Lefty Land. There are 430 members (the cap is set at 580) and at least four of them must sponsor you before you earn an invite.

What it Costs The initiation fee is a hefty $130,000, but at least you don't have to buy a lot. Annual dues are $9,800.

Vaquero Country Club
Dallas, Texas
Even the initiation fees are bigger in Texas. But with its renowned service, sumptuous food, and Tom Fazio layout, Vaquero is the club that others look up to. There's a carving station at the turn, a wall of plasma TVs above the hot tub, and even a bass fishing hole, complete with an instructor.

Who's Who Justin Leonard, Todd Hamilton, Terry Bradshaw, and Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn.

How to Get In Tell everyone within earshot the British Open is the greatest major. Hope that Leonard and Hamilton hear you. Then hit the lottery.

What it Costs Initiation is $175,000, plus a home lot, which start at $290,000. Dues are $10,500.

Wentworth Club
Surrey, England
Founded in 1924, Wentworth has enough acreage for three 18-hole courses and one nine-hole par-3. The West Course hosts the Euro Tour's HSBC World Match Play, also known as the Ernie Els Annuity. It also was the site of the first televised golf commentary by Henry Longhurst in the early 1950s.

Who's Who Els, Michael Campbell, Thomas Bjorn and Retief Goosen. "We're very private about our membership," says a spokeswoman.

How to Get In Win the HSBC or forget it. The club isn't accepting new golf members. Leave your jazzy J. Lindeberg duds at home and know that the Norman Conquest had nothing to do with an Australian golfer.

What it Costs It's $17,000 for an individual golf membership (which the club would like to remind you is not available, thank you). The average nearby home goes for around $3.5 million. Annual dues are $8,000.
