Els won for the first time since the 2004 American Express Championship in Ireland. The win also moved Els to third in the world rankings, passing Steve Stricker.

Matt Jones trailed Els by one when he came to the par-3 17th. Jones's tee shot found the water, and he made a double bogey.

Mark Calcavecchia was tied for the lead until he hit into a greenside bunker at the par-3 15th. His shot from the sand looked fine at first, but it never stopped rolling and came to rest in the hazard, on a rock ledge above the water. He tossed the ball in, made double bogey and finished tied for fourth.

Robert Allenby shot an even-par 70 to finish at three under.

Brian Davis held the lead after two rounds, but he went 73-73 on the weekend to finish tied for seventh.
