If you're looking for a marquee group to follow in the first round of this week's Humana Challenge, focus on La Quinta Country Club's tenth tee.
That's where Golf Channel host Holly Sonders, one of Golf Magazine's Most Beautiful Women in Golf, will tee off at 9:30 a.m. Pacific (12:30 Eastern) with John Daly and Jesper Parnevik in the first round of this week's Humana Challenge. The event spans three courses and, in a tip of the hat to its heritage as the Bob Hope Desert Classic, includes a number of amateur participants playing alongside PGA Tour professionals.
Sonders played collegiate golf for Michigan State, helping the Spartans to a Big 10 Championship in 2007 with scores of 79-79-79-81--318. Daly is coming off a tie for 32nd at last week's Sony Open in Hawaii that included a third-round 64 and his usual, uh, colorful wardrobe.
Defending champion Brian Gay will start on the first tee at La Quinta at 9:40 a.m.
