Nike Victory Red Forged Split Cavity Irons

Victory Red Forged Split Cavity irons

From Golf Magazine (Buyer's Guide, May 2009)
It's for: Better players who want game improvement features in a traditional forging

Tom Stites, Director of Product Creation, Nike Golf: "This is the perfect club for a Tour player or better amateur. The bounce angles are specifically calculated for this type of player. It also has a little wider sole and slightly larger profile [than the VR Forged TW Blade] so more weight is below the center of gravity."

How it works: The forged clubhead is CNC-milled from soft 1025 carbon steel for precise feedback, repeatable performance and flight. The shallow cavity offers a bit of forgiveness on misses while providing the freedom to manipulate shots. In fact, the split-back cavity design tucks weight (and the center of gravity) behind the sweet spot. The cambered sole should help to produce solid contact from various lies.

From the Shop Blog:
If you don't have quite enough game to make Tiger's sticks work for you, Nike is also offering the Victory Red Forged Split Cavity. The Split Cavity set, made from the same materials as the TW Blades, will have a slightly thicker topline and sole, as well as more offset and perimeter weighting to make them more forgiving on off-center hits.
