From Golf Magazine ClubTest (March 2010)
Category: Max Game-Improvement Irons
We tested: 4-GW with True Temper GS95 steel shaft
Company line: "MX-1000 irons have an extremely high COR and MOI for max distance and forgiveness. We plasma weld the maraging steel face to a hollow, stainless steel body to produce our longest, most player-friendly iron."
Our Testers say:
PROS: Among the top iron models in its group; the wide
sole works well from rough and doesn't dig, even on steeper
swings; above-average forgiveness and distance; short irons
fly straight as a string and are very accurate; surprisingly
good for chipping and pitching; responsive feel; the look at
address is big but pleasing; a few testers said they might
purchase MX-1000's.
CONS: Heavy overall feel doesn't suit everyone; the long irons could be easier to hit.
From Sports Illustrated Golf+ Equipment Issue (February 8, 2010)
"This is our rocket launcher. The exotic Hot Metal face is plasma-welded to a high-tech, stainless steel body, creating a super high COR and a massive MOI for amazing distance and forgiveness." Chuck Couch, director of marketing
