From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, March 2010)
Category: Better-Player Irons
We tested: 3-PW with Nippon NS Pro 1130 Tour steel shaft
Company line: "We designed the S2 Forged to provide a combination of superior control and feel with added distance. The large cavity with extreme perimeter weighting contributes to more forgiveness than traditional forgings."
Our Testers say:
PROS: These want to go high and straight; a larger head with better-than-average forgiveness; club leans to the
game-improvement end of the better-player group; provides good distance output throughout the set; the sole appears
unusually wide for a forged club but it goes through turf easily; panelists enjoy the lively Nippon shaft.
CONS: Not as workable as many others; testers prefer a higher degree of feel and feedback; high flight could be affected in windy conditions.
From Sports Illustrated Golf+ Equipment Issue (February 8, 2010)
A forged cavity back with extreme perimeter weighting is aimed at the single-digit handicapper. This set has milled grooves for consistent spin.
From Golf Magazine (December 2009)
Featuring forged carbon steel construction with precision CNC-milled grooves, the S2 Forged is aimed at players who like a traditional look and feel but want added forgiveness. Enhanced playability is provided by a relatively large cavity, extreme perimeter weighting, and a sole design that's slightly wider than that of traditional blades. Nippon NS Pro 1130 Tour steel shafts come standard.
