From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, February 2010)
Category: Tour Drivers
We tested: 8.5°, 9.5° with Aldila Habanero graphite shaft
Company line: "The pear-shaped 450cc head features a slightly open face angle, a hosel [common for Callaway only in 'Tour' drivers] and a lower center of gravity for a penetrating ball flight. Our 'acid chemical reduction' process results in consistently high ball speeds across the clubface."
OUR TESTERS SAY:
PROS: Lower flight provides a lot of run and good distance; very good accuracy in windy conditions; club wants to turn ball right to left; minimal distance loss on off-center hits; soft impact feel; easier to hit than the previous Diablo.
CONS: Panelists expected more feedback at impact; at test time, 10.5° loft was unavailable, which might have aided some testers' launch conditions; no alignment aid.
From Sports Illustrated Golf+ Equipment Issue (February 8, 2010)
• The longest, most accurate all-titanium driver made by Callaway.
• Four-piece fused titanium is precision engineered with a traditional shape and hosel.
• Chem-milled hyperbolic face provides robust ball speeds across entire face.
• Aerodynamic body design reduces drag in the downswing for higher impact speeds.
