Adams Idea Pro Black Hybrid

Photo: Adams Golf

From Golf Magazine (ClubTest, May 2010)

Category: Better Player Hybrids

We tested: 20° and 23° with Aldila VooDoo graphite shaft

Company line: "The combination of a Maraging steel face, low-spin head design and Aldila VooDoo shaft maximize distance for more skilled players. The compact head is made to perform from any lie and provide optimum workability."

PROS: Piercing ball flight is great for distance off the tee or into a headwind; best for those who consistently nail long irons; workable sticks enable testers to turn it both ways easily; sleek, stealth-like clubhead sets up well on awkward lies; good around the greens, like an extra chipper.

CONS: Trajectory isn't high enough to hold some greens; requires you to take a divot, not great for sweepers; plays too much like a long iron for some testers.

$200, graphite;
