On Feb. 27, Donald Trump announced that he had purchased Doral Resort & Spa in Miami and hired course designer Gil Hanse to redo the famed Blue Monster, venue for this week's WGC-Cadillac Championship, as part of the property's "multimillion-dollar renovation."
Hanse's plans include rebuilding all the greens and regrassing the fairways to improve conditioning and aesthetics. The course will also get longer by about 250 yards, although Hanse is meeting with Tour players to review his proposal. "Nothing is settled yet," he says, "and the new layout will probably get shorter after that meeting." Here's Hanse's description of the most notable alterations.
