HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Verizon has announced it is ending its association with South Carolina's stop on the PGA Tour.

Verizon Heritage tournament director Steve Wilmot said Tuesday the event's longtime sponsor will not continue after 2010.

Wilmot said the PGA Tour will help the tournament seek a new sponsor in time for the 2011. He said there are many attractive aspects of the annual event at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Verizon first began its association with the Heritage Classic Foundation in 1987.

A vice president for Verizon Business said the company was restructuring its association with the PGA Tour.
