Riegger wins Nationwide's Rex Hospital Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Journeyman golfer John Riegger has been declared the winner of the Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Classic on Sunday with a 54-hole total of 20-under 193 when the tournament was called due to rain.

The 46-year-old never started the final round, which was delayed at the start by 3 hours due to heavy morning rains. The tournament was suspended at 1:45 p.m. as more storms rolled into the area, and nearly 2 inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours.

Because the Nationwide Tour does not extend tournaments into Monday and there was no way to finish the round Sunday, Tour Director Jim Duncan cancelled the final round before the last three groups teed off.

It was Riegger's second Nationwide Tour win. His first was the 2007 LaSalle Bank Open.
