Love recovering after kidney stone surgery

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Davis Love III was recovering Friday in Georgia after a procedure to treat a kidney stone.

Love, who won last year at the Forest Oaks Country Club course he helped renovate, withdrew from the Wyndham Championship earlier this week because of the ailment.

Officials at a hospital in Brunswick, Ga., where the procedure was performed said it lasted about 20 minutes. Love was released shortly afterward and expects to play in The Barclays next week, the first event of the four-week FedEx Cup playoffs.

"Except for feeling like I've been punched in the side, I feel fine," Love said. "The doctor said I can begin chipping and putting in the next day or so and should be taking full swings early next week. I should be ready to play next week."
