PGA National tomahawk for two

Welcome to Clubhouse Eats and Drinks, where we’ll introduce you to our favorite food and drink at some of the best golf courses, golf resorts and golfy locations around. Cheers!

The PGA Tour’s Florida swing begins this week, and the first stop is the Honda Classic, which has been played at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens since 2007. The event boasts one of the year’s strongest fields, and is a longtime favorite for a sizable list of the Tour’s who’s who by virtue of its proximity to Jupiter (less than 10 miles north), where so many Tour players live.

The PGA National Resort and Spa boasts five onsite courses, including the tournament host, the Champions. With four bar and restaurant options on property, there’s no doubt the resort will be a popular hangout throughout the week.

In the event you’re lucky enough to visit PGA National and need some guidance on what to order when you’re there, look no further than the Tomahawk for Two at Ironwood Steak & Seafood, PGA National’s signature restaurant. The 32-ounce prime bone-in ribeye (a cross of Wagyu and Black Angus beef) is a phenomenal cut, and is heavily seasoned with a secret seven-spice dry rub. Next, it’s char-broiled at 1,200 degrees and finished with rosemary butter.

Sounds delish, right? The steak is accompanied by roasted potatoes and asparagus. And to wash it all down, Ironwood’s incredible wine cellar houses over 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest vintages to choose from. In short: you’re in for a meal you won’t soon forget.
