Jordan Spieth drubbed by Thorbjorn Olesen, now 0-6 in team singles matches

SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France — It was a joke at the 2017 Presidents Cup but it won’t be here. Jordan Spieth has lost another singles match, moving his career record of international team play as a professional to 0-6 in single matches.

The joke was made by Dustin Johnson at Liberty National last year, and it was all good fun then; the Americans won. Here at Le Golf National, the result felt very different. Despite winning three points during the first four sessions, Spieth was no match for Ryder Cup rookie Thorbjorn Olesen Sunday.

Olesen won four of the first six holes when Spieth made three consecutive bogeys on holes 4, 5 and 6. Eventually the American star faced a 5-hole deficit after the front nine, finishing very early at 5&4. Spieth made just one birdie on the day, fewest of the Americans. Olesen made five, as many as any European player.
