The Web.com Tour Championship has been canceled due to Hurricane Matthew, locking in the current list of Web.com Tour graduates.
The event was to be held at Atlantic Beach Country Club on the Atlantic coastline east of Jacksonville. The hurricane touched ground in Haiti and Cuba before moving north toward the Florida Peninsula. As of Wednesday at 11 a.m. the storm was considered a Category 3 hurricane.
This means the final (and often most important) event of the Web.com Tour Finals will not take place and the current standings are final. The cancellation of the season finale is a tough break for those left outside the top 25, like Kyle Thompson, who had not performed well in the first three Finals events and was hoping to earn his PGA Tour card at the Tour Championship.
Not quite the way I hoped to finish my season. Really looked forward to this last chance at my PGA Tour card. pic.twitter.com/WzZl9I0slv
