The biggest party in golf is about to get bigger.
That’s right, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which houses the fully enclosed par-3 16th hole, is adding new boxes and luxury suites to the par-4 17th hole with hopes of extending the atmosphere that the tournament has become famous for.
A report in the Phoenix Business Journal claims that the 17th hole club suites are already sold out for between $55,000 and $110,000 and include a view of the 10th hole. More general admission seats are also being added to the 17th hole, while the 16th hole is getting “20 new upper-level boxes on the green and five new loge boxes,” according to Dan Mahoney, chairman of the event in 2016.
The report also states that the tournament at TPC Scottsdale was the most attended on the PGA Tour in 2015 at 564,000 for the week. Next year’s event will be held the first week in February.
