Tony Romo’s Plan B? Assistant Golf Professional

February 20, 2016

Your new assistant golf pro is… Tony Romo?

Not really, but that very well could have been the case had Romo’s football career taken a different turn early on.

In an interview with the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys franchise quarterback told a story about a crisis he went through during his second Cowboys training camp. Stuck in fourth place on the depth chart after underperforming, the young Romo found himself sleepless in a hotel room one night, pondering the direction of his life.

“That’s when I sat in bed and I just prayed to the Lord, and this was a very defining moment for me. I was like, ‘If I’m not meant to be the quarterback here or play quarterback in the NFL, that’s fine. Then I’m going to go back and be a really good assistant golf club professional back in Burlington, Wisconsin.'”

But it wasn’t to be. Romo turned around his play on the football field and went on to be the star of the Cowboys organization.
