Tiger Woods shot a five-under 66 Friday at the Quicken Loans National, only the second time he has fired a score that low since the third round of the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral.
The round began quietly, with Woods making par on his first four holes (he started on No. 10) then making bogey at 14. But he bounced back with a birdie at 15 after he stuck his approach shot to within four feet of the hole, and then made a 10 footer for birdie on 18 to close out his opening nine at one under.
Woods started quickly on the front nine (his second). He made another four-foot birdie putt at the first hole after a beautiful approach, then birdied the fourth, fifth and eighth for a 66.
