US Open 2015: Tiger Woods Duffs 3-Wood on 18th Hole at Chambers Bay

June 19, 2015

Tiger Woods opening round at the 2015 U.S. Open didn’t exactly go according to plan. Despite commenting on Tuesday that he felt he had a chance to win this week, Woods struggled right out of the gate, fighting his swing change and racking up bogeys at Chambers Bay, finishing with a 10-over 80.

Woods arrived at the 18th tee needing a par to break 80. After his tee shot found the fairway, Woods pulled a 3-wood from his bag for a lengthy appraoch shot. Then, in the words of Fox broadcaster Joe Buck, Woods “just duffed it” into a deep bunker in front of the green, eventually settling for his eighth bogey of the day and an 8-0 on the scorecard.
