Tiger Woods will be teeing it up with Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul at the Wyndham Championship pro-am on Wednesday.
Woods and Paul will participate in the Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Wos Family foundation Pro-Am, teeing off at 7 a.m. at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Paul, a Wake Forest alum, has played a number of pro-ams near his hometown of Lewisville, N.C., with playing partners including Davis Love III, Brandt Snedeker and Fred Couples.
Paul and Woods are friendly, having hung out and played together previously at Tiger Jam in 2013.
In search of vital FedEx Cup points following a missed cut at the PGA Championship last weekend — his third missed cut in a major and fourth out of the last five events played — Woods is really making the most of his week at the Wyndham Championship.
Wyndham, while one of the Tour’s oldest stops, isn’t known for attracting big names like former number ones Woods, Adam Scott, and Luke Donald. Many players in the field will be looking to add to their FedEx Cup points total.
Woods currently sits 187th in the FedEx Cup standings, and to qualify for the playoffs, he will need a win or second place finish. This will be his first appearance at the Wyndham Championship.
