Despite owning a top 30 ranking in the Race to Dubai, Sergio Garcia will not be competing in the final event of the series at the DP World Tour Championship this week.

Garcia’s management team confirmed to The Guardian that the Spaniard will not be making the trip to Dubai for the second time in three years.

Garcia also skipped the first two events of the PGA Tour’s season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs in September, offering that he “was a little tired … and I had the possibility of of doing it because I was in a good situation,” and then failed to advanced to the Tour Championship at East Lake.

The news represents yet another blow to the European Tour, which has struggled to maintain the interest of some of the game’s best players this year.

Garcia will be replaced by Stephen Gallacher, who was ranked 61st in the Race to Dubai rankings following the BMW Masters this past weekend.
