Ryder Cup: Sergio Garcia Hits Drive into Marshal’s Pocket

October 1, 2016

Things are getting heated at the Ryder Cup, as the play and atmosphere Saturday is electric and contentious at Hazeltine. But one moment provided a bit of levity in the morning foursomes session.

Playing in a heavyweight matchup against American stars Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth, Sergio Garcia seemed to be holing every putt he took, so why not a drive? Garcia’s tee shot on the par-4 5th went way left into the gallery and came to rest inside the jacket pocket of a marshal. Garcia walked over to the surprised bystander and shared a laugh with him before playing partner Rafa Cabrera-Bello made the free drop.
