Rory McIlroy has his sights set on a better 2015-16 season.
McIlroy posted a photo to Instagram on Thursday morning showing that he had laser eye surgery on Wednesday. The caption reads: “Human version of the dreaded K-9 cone…. Only for sleeping though! Laser eye surgery went well yesterday.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, it typically takes two to three months to fully recover from LASIK eye surgery but some regain clear vision must faster. McIlroy is scheduled to play in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on Jan. 21-24 along with Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson and Rickie Fowler.
Tiger Woods had LASIK surgery in October 1999 and won the Disney Classic in his first start since surgery later that month. He had a follow-up procedure in April 2007 and again won his next start, the Wachovia Championship in May 2007.
McIlroy last played in November when he won the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
