Golf’s biggest stars aren’t oblivious to what Tiger Woods means to the game.
During his press conference at the Hero World Challenge on Tuesday, Woods said he doesn’t have a timetable for his return to competitive golf, adding that he’d be content if he didn’t win again on the PGA Tour.
It was a shocking statement for the golf world to hear from the normally optimistic 14-time major winner. Rory McIlroy must have thought so, too. McIlroy posted a photo with Woods on Instagram with the text: “Wishing my idol and friend a speedy recovery. Golf without him doesn’t bear thinking about. Hope to see you back on the course soon @tigerwoods.”
