Job: Bagpiper at the Links at Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach, Calif.
“During World War I, my grandfather was a member of the Black Watch, the Scottish regiment that fought in kilts. He had a record of pipes and drums that the Black Watch played, and I always loved that sound, so in high school I learned the pipes. I’ve been a bagpiper here for 20 years. They’re called tunes, not songs, because they don’t have lyrics. Sometimes I play “Amazing Grace.” Not many places in the world look like this at sunset. It’s a sight and sound like no other.”
