Phil Mickelson Holes Out for Eagle at CareerBuilder Challenge

January 21, 2016

Phil “The Thrill” Mickelson is kicking off his 2016 PGA Tour season in style at the CareerBuilder Challenge in California.

Playing his first round at La Quinta Country Club, Mickelson holed a 110-yard wedge from the fairway of the par-4 8th hole for an early eagle. The eagle, along with three other birdies on the front nine, put Mickelson in position near the top of the leaderboard.

Mickelson, who has 42 PGA Tour victories in his career, has not won since his dramatic victory at the 2013 British Open at Muirfield, his fifth career major triumph.

The first three rounds of the CareerBuilder Challenge are played across three different golf courses — PGA West’s Stadium Course, PGA West’s Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course, and La Quinta Country Club — while the final round will be at the Stadium Course.
