Harold Varner III on Being a PGA Tour Rookie, Dabbing on the Course

January 20, 2016

This week’s GOLF.com podcast guest is Harold Varner III, an up-and-coming rookie on the PGA Tour.

Varner first caught popular attention when he finished second at the Australian PGA in November. Then last weekend he finished T13 at the Sony Open in his first trip to Hawaii, where television cameras caught his newest birdie celebration. Don’t worry, that’s not going away; he loves doing it.

Varner will tee it up for his first West Coast swing beginning this week at the CareerBuilder Challenge in southern California. While golf is his profession and a major part of his life, it’s not everything.

“Golf is what I do, not who I am,” he says.

Well, who is Harold then? A proud, boisterous 25-year-old who is also a LeBron James and Carolina Panthers fanatic, and not the least bit shy about either.
