Dustin Johnson Beats Tiger Woods’ Course Record in Round With Wayne Gretzky

November 5, 2014

For a guy who hasn’t played competitive golf since July, Dustin Johnson sure gets around.

In addition to filing a $3 million lawsuit against his former advisers and moving up two spots in the world rankings last week, Johnson also broke Tiger Woods’ course record at Sherwood Country Club.

Johnson shot a 61 at Sherwood on Oct. 28, and TMZ.com has a photo of the scorecard. Johnson, who is engaged to Paulina Gretzky, was playing with his future in-laws Wayne and Janet Gretzky, longtime Sherwood members. Paulina announced she was pregnant in September.

Woods shot 62 twice at Sherwood, most recently at the 2013 Northwestern Mutual World Challenge. Sherwood hosted Woods’ World Challenge event from 2000-2013. This year the re-named Hero World Challenge will be played at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Orlando this December.

Johnson hasn't hit a shot on the PGA Tour since he announced a six-month leave of absence on July 31, vowing to address “personal challenges” after running afoul of the Tour for what Golf.com would reveal was his third failed drug test.

According to Johnson’s agent David Winkle, Johnson does not plan to return to the Tour until after the birth of his child.
