In an interview with Matt Lauer of the Today Show, Caitlyn Jenner discussed her recent transition from male to female while playing a round of golf.
Lauer said that when his friends discovered he would be teeing it up with the openly transgender Jenner, they only had one question: Was she going to play from the ladies’ tees?
Jenner responded with a laugh: “Of course I am!”
Jenner, who won a gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, is also a 5.3 handicap at Sherwood Country Club in Los Angeles. She announced her gender transition in April and was awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYS in July, shortly before her new reality show, I Am Cait, launched on E!.
When Lauer protested, indicating that she should play the white or blue tees in their match, Jenner teased the host and took up the challenge.
“C’mon, you can’t take it?” she said. “I’ll tell you what, I’ll play from the tips. I really don’t care.”
