Bubba Watson received one of the better breaks of the day on Saturday, and it led to his second straight birdie of the third round of the British Open.
Playing his second shot on the par-5 4th hole — a 6-iron from 206 yards out — Watson missed the green left. You could hear his frustration as the ball was in the air, but his shot took one hard hop and on the second bounce hit a sprinkler head, which ricocheted it nearly 90 degrees and to within about 15 feet of the cup. He two-putted for birdie.
Watson finished with a one-over 72 and is five over for the tournament. He was derailed by a bogey on the 10th and a triple bogey on the 11th, which was the result of an approach shot onto the train tracks.
