The University of Southern California’s new athletic director is a member of Augusta National Golf Club — but so was the previous one.
On Wednesday, USC announced that 64-year-old Lynn Swann has been hired as the school’s AD. Swann will officially replace former AD Pat Haden on July 1. Haden is also a member of Augusta National, home of last week’s Masters, and he and Swann both starred on the football field at USC.
Despite not having any past experience as an athletic director, Swann beat out more than 200 applicants USC said.
Swann, who won four Super Bowls, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He serves on the hospitality committee at Augusta.
